Canada Federal Skilled Worker (Professional) Immigration - OLD

Skilled worker applications are assessed against the ability of the applicant to establish themselves economically on immigration to Canada.

In order to qualify for a Canada Immigration (permanent resident), (Professional) Canadian skilled worker applicants must:

Have at least one year full-time or equivalent work experience paid continued during the past 10 years in one of the 24 eligible professions; or
Do you qualify for a job reserved for an opinion relating to the labour market and full time, offers of permanent employment from a Canadian employer; or
Completing a PhD at the Canada, or completing two years of study in Canada for a PhD, in both cases in a recognized institution; and
Pass a minimum threshold of knowledge of the language for one of the two official languages of the Canada (french / English)

In addition, skilled workers (professionals) candidates must obtain at least 67 points on the basis of citizenship (CIC) Immigration Canada immigrant selection factors.

 The selection factors are summarized as follows:
  • Education: Applicants are awarded up to25 points.
  • Language proficiency: applicants areawarded up to 28 points in total (24, first official language, 4 second official language).
  • Professional experience: candidates get up to15 points for professional experience paid in the past 10 years. A minimum of 9 points is necessary.
  • Age: Candidates are awarded up to12 points.
  • Arranged employment: candidates get up to 10 points.
  • Adaptability:Candidates get up to 10points.

In addition to the eligibility and the points requirements, candidates must demonstrate that they have sufficient settlement funds for themselves and their dependants after their arrival in the Canada. Applicants and their dependants must also undergo medical examinations and security permissions in the context of the application of Canadian immigration process.
